Join us on a tour of our World Award winning Hamilton Gardens and enjoy a refreshing morning tea, followed by a tour of the Waikato Museum giving an insight into the Maori and European history of the region. We then drive to the World Class Zealong Tea Estate for High Tea and Tea tasting. Following this we cruise to take in a piece of automobile history at the Classic Car Museum and Café before experiencing New Zealand’s biggest shopping Centre – The Base. If you wish to have dinner we highly recommend the Award winning Smith and McKenzie for wonderful food and wines/beers to match.
Visit the World Award winning Hamlton Gardens and be taken on a Private Tour and learn about it’s amazing history and evolution. Visitors are guided on a journey of discovery along paths leading to mysterious surprises: step from a peaceful Sung Dynasty Chinese Scholar’s garden into an Italian Renaissance Garden, before being enthralled by the grandeur of the Indian Char Bagh Garden. Hamilton Gardens has 21 themed garden areas with more being developed. Enjoy a delightful morning tea at the Gardens Café.
Zealong Tea Estate
In 1.30-2 hours you’ll explore Zealong Tea Estate and wonderful Tea Walk, learn the fascinating story behind Zealong, see how tea is made, experience a traditional Discover tea ceremony and rich history and culture, and relax over a cup of the world’s purest tea, with stunning views over the only tea plantation in New Zealand, then saviour a Zealong Signature High Tea.
Waikato Museum’s exhibitions and events tell modern and historic stories from a regional and global perspective, and include visual art, social history, tangata whenua culture and science from touring exhibitions and the museum’s own collections. Waikato Museum’s 13 galleries feature more than 25 new exhibitions and 100 public events annually. Through this interactive programme we aim to engage and inspire our local and international visitors. Highlights include the majestic War Waka Te Winika, For Us They Fell, the Waikato WW1 story, Exscite and Planet Warriors, the fun hands-on science galleries for children; and our galleries which exhibit a rich blend of artworks.
Classic Car Museum
Fantstic range of wonderful vintage and classic vehicles and 1950’s Café with staff dressed to match. This will be an environment with something for each member of the family to enjoy. Around 60 cars on display along with an extensive collection of petrol memorabilia. Our displays are refreshed and changed on a regular basis with different cars coming in too. Enjoy a classic afternoon tea at the 1950’s themed café.
Shopping (The Base)
New Zealand largest and most spectacular shopping centre with over 200 shops. A wonderful array of New Zealand stores and products, with Hamilton’s largest selection of fashion and major brands and Factory Outlet Stores.
