Cambridge Town Visit and Lunch – Cambridge is a majestic tree-lined town that sits at the heart of New Zealand’s rural heartland. Cambridge is blessed with trees, parks and gardens that provide a stunning palette of colours as the seasons change. Cambridge also has two of the country’s most beautiful waterways – the ‘mighty’ Waikato River and Lake Karapiro with swimming, rowing, kayaking, jet boating, skiing, cruising and fishing available to all within minutes of the town centre. Cambridge is also well-suited to those who enjoy a walk or like to get on a bike – either for a gentle ride or to compete against the world’s best cyclists. And if horses are your thing, Cambridge is the Equine Capital of New Zealand. Cambridge has more than 20 cafes, tasty eateries, and boutique shopping.

Sanctuary Mountain           – You will be personally guided to one of New Zealand’s  most impressive walks is at the remarkable Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari (Maungatautari Ecological Reserve),a vast sanctuary for endangered native species. Inside its 47km long pest-proof fence, you can visualise New Zealand the way it used to be, and see rare birds like the Hihi (stitchbird), Kaka, Takahe and maybe even Kiwi. Unhindered by pests, both flora and fauna are flourishing in its 3400 hectare expanse. A walk along its well-marked tracks gets you up close to a huge variety of native trees and plants, along with birds and insects. Those with a keen eye may also spot a Tuatara basing in the sunlight inside the Maungatautari wetalnds area. The Southern Enclosure offers the chance to see birds feeding in the open feeding area along with a 16 metre high canopy viewing platform. The mountain provides many walking trails, or take a guided night walk to see how the bush comes alive under cover of darkness – listen for the call of the Kiwi, and see native Weta and spiders.

Lake Districts Adventures – Paddle the Trails of the South Waikato region and finish with an amazing Glow worms experience through a tree enclosed canyon.

The Te Parapara Garden at Hamilton Gardens is New Zealand’s first and only traditional Maori garden, and a rich record of the region’s pre-European history. Focusing on the plants, techniques and culture associated with pre-European Maori horticulture, food gathering and food preservation and storage, Te Parapara includes the built and carved structures of a rare palisade fencing (taepa), three forms of traditional Maori storehouses (pataka), a ceremonial gateway (waharoa) and ancestral pou.
